1. Intro

Thanks for your interest in SharkROM, the last word in ROM hiding technology! I hope that after a short demo of it's power and features, you'll purchase a license and unleash it's full potential (with free updates and unlimited use).

2. Things you should know:

Before you continue reading this manual, there are a few things you should know about SharkROM:

-1: It's without a doubt much more stable than any other ROM utility I've seen so far. Basically, just make sure you DON'T DELETE it's main database (the one named SHRM_APPDB), as it has all the vital information on application status.

-2: Unlike other ROM utilities which create resets and data loss problems when you delete the stub files, deleting the stub apps SharkROM will cause no problem at all! (the normal ROM app will be displayed in the launcher and SharkROM will automatically detect the change on the next startup.

-3: Again unlike other ROM utilities, soft resetting your Palm should not affect hidden apps or SharkROM's functionality in any way.

-4: The first time you start SharkROM you'll get an Inilitializing message. After the first run (where SharkROM does a basic run through of your system), SharkROM will be much faster at loading.

3. Installation

Install SharkROM by double-clicking it and HotSyncing with your Palm.

4. How to use SharkROM:

- BASIC USE, THE SHOW/HIDE BUTTON: Just select the ROM program you want to hide and press the Show/Hide button. Hidden programs will have an *(asterisk) next to their name. Select the app again and press Show/Hide for it to show up in the launchers (the asterisk will disappear when it's not hidden).

- SHOW ALL/HIDE ALL BUTTONS: Pressing the Show All buttons shows all hidden apps, while the Hide All button hides all shown apps.

- SEARCH: A simple, Address Book-like search feature allows you to get to the ROM app you need quickly and efficiently (convenient for systems with lots of ROM apps, like Sony CLIEs)

- >> BUTTON: Allows you to launch the selected application (even if it's hidden). This is convenient for situations where you need to take a quick peek at a ROM app without unhiding it in the launcher.

- "i" BUTTON: Pops up the registration screen, which has instructions on how to register and a space for your registration ID.

- "?" BUTTON: Pops up SharkROM's built in help section. While not as extensive as what's found here, it provides what you need to know on the go ;-).

5. Hi-Res+/High Density features

For all you lucky owners of a 320x480/480x320 screen (T3, TH, UX, NX, NZ, etc...), SharkROM has a special feature in store for you. Hide your Virtual Graffiti area to show a side panel (UX/T3 landscape users) or bottom panel (portrait Palms). These panels include the following info on whatever app you have currently selected:

CID: (Creator ID)

Size: (Size of app in bytes)

Type: (Always "appl" for ROM apps)

# Recs: (Number of records associated with the app)

Backup: (Whether or not the app is set to be backed up)

Copy: (Whether or not Copy Protection is enabled)

Icon: The app's icon

7. Disclaimer

SharkROM works with Palm OS in ways Palm OS never intended programs to work with it. Therefore, it's VERY important you know the risks beforehand. I've tested this program A LOT, and in all my tests of the copy enclosed in this .zip i haven't found any serious bugs (i.e. ones that would cause a hard reset), but i don't gurantee this software is bugless. You take full responsibility for any damages (software/hardware).
